Ecotherapy & Nature-Based Therapy in Durango, CO
Reconnect with the Land—and with Yourself
In a culture that often disconnects us from nature, our bodies, and even our own inner knowing, ecotherapy offers a way back home. Ecotherapy—also called nature-based therapy—invites you to step outside the walls of traditional therapy and into relationship with the living world. Whether we walk through a forest, sit by a river, or simply feel the earth beneath our feet, nature becomes both a healing space and an active partner in your therapeutic process.
What is Ecotherapy?
Ecotherapy blends traditional counseling with intentional connection to the natural world, creating opportunities for healing that are experiential, sensory, and relational. This work supports not only your emotional healing, but also your nervous system regulation—helping you slow down, reorient to natural rhythms, and remember your place within the greater web of life.
My Approach to Nature-Based Therapy
As a therapist rooted in somatic, experiential, and relational approaches, I guide clients through ecotherapy sessions that invite presence, curiosity, and connection. Together, we explore not only what’s alive within you, but also how the land around you reflects, supports, and responds to your healing process.
Sessions might include:
Mindful walks or quiet sitting in natural spaces
Rewilding practices—returning to your innate sense of aliveness, belonging, and connection to the earth
Creative expression using natural materials
Grounding, breathwork, and nervous system co-regulation with nature
Exploring your sense of belonging to both place and self
Invitations to listen deeply—to the land, your body, and your inner voice
This work is experiential—meaning it’s not just about talking, but about experiencing, sensing, and remembering who you are, in relationship with the earth.
Ecotherapy for Stress, Anxiety & Life Transitions
Nature-based therapy can be especially supportive if you’re experiencing:
Anxiety, overwhelm, or burnout
A sense of disconnection—from yourself, your purpose, or the world around you
Grief, both personal and ecological
Life transitions—career changes, breakups, identity shifts
Feeling stuck in perfectionism, self-doubt, or old relational patterns
Longing for a sense of belonging, clarity, or meaning
Rewilding: Remembering Your Authentic Self
Rewilding is at the heart of my approach to ecotherapy. This doesn’t mean returning to some imagined, primitive life—it means reclaiming your relationship to the natural world, your inner wildness, and your own deep knowing. Together, we work to shed cultural conditioning that keeps you small, disconnected, or performative, and reclaim your right to be fully yourself—intuitive, creative, relational, and free.
Nervous System Regulation in Nature
Nature has a profound impact on the nervous system. Time outdoors—especially when combined with somatic practices like grounding, breathwork, and sensory awareness—supports your body in moving out of chronic fight-or-flight and into a more regulated, present state. This creates the conditions where real healing and integration can happen.

“Whenever we touch nature we get clean. People who have got dirty through too much civilization take a walk in the woods, or a bath in the sea. Entering the unconscious, entering yourself through dreams, is touching nature from the inside and this is the same thing, things are put right again.”
